December 2007: Xcel Energy has announced the winners of their third funding cycle. InterPhases was awarded $1 million to develop a pilot manufacturing line, for their CIS PV technology "that offers potential for extremely low cost and high volume production of thin-film, flexible cell modules." The Xcel Energy Renewable Development Fund removes "barriers to entry of new renewable energy technologies by funding research on emerging technologies and supporting development of renewable energy projects,” said Scott Wilensky, Xcel Energy. June 2007: A recent award from the Office of the Secretary of Defense will develop InterPhases' CIS thin film technology for defense applications. InterPhases will work under the management of the Air Force Research Laboratory, to develop low cost energy solutions for DoD mobile and remote applications. January 2007: InterPhases has developed several technologies that synergize to create a novel method for manufacturing the CIS solar cell. The innovation received yet another boost by way of additional funding. The National Science Foundation awarded InterPhases a grant to develop the window material for the cell, using non-vacuum methods. |
